European consumer grouping joins EU antitrust example confronting Apple tree

BRUSSELS: The European Consumer Organisation (BEUC) antechamber group on Wednesday backed the European Union's antitrust case against Apple which alleges information technology distorts competition in the music streaming market.
The European Commission filed its starting time antitrust charges confronting Apple tree in April following an initial complaint by the iPhone maker'due south rival Spotify.
Apple tree has rejected the Eu charges, maxim that its App Store enabled Spotify to get the world'southward largest music subscription service. It has been given 12 weeks to respond to the charges.
BEUC said information technology has been immune to join as an interested 3rd political party in the antitrust regulator's case, which could pb to a hefty fine of as much equally 10per cent of Apple'due south global turnover and force a change to its business organization practices.
